for Offenders and Ex-offenders of all ages

Subjects

The following subjects* are addressed in the LifeChange curriculum:
  • Rules and Authority established a proper foundation for the study

  • Layout acknowledges their crimes, how they hurt others, and what they need to do to  change”

  • Thinking Errors are used to make excuses and avoid taking responsibility for behavior. They are also used to avoid painful feelings. The nine Thinking Errors are:  Deceiving,  Making Excuses, Downplaying,  Jumping to Conclusions,  Avoiding,  Acting Helpless, Blaming, Overreaction, and Feeling Special

  • Offense Cycle teaches how to recognize and change negative behavior patterns.  The Offense Cycle has seven steps 1) Unmet Needs, 2) Critical Situation, 3) Internal Reaction, 4) Considering Choices, 5) Preparing to Offender, 6) Offense, 7) Avoiding Consequences

  • Life Story helps understand themselves and how they became the kind of person that hurts others

  • Success Plan sets goals and makes plans for the future

  • Values developing strong beliefs to be used to make decisions

  • Empathy helps to understand how many people they hurt when they committed their crimes
